VFW Ole Beck Post 209 was chartered in Missoula, Montana in 1921. For over a century we've served Veterans, military families, and this community through benefits navigation, peer support, emergency assistance, and ceremonial honors, all delivered by Veterans, for Veterans.

We're in the middle of the biggest transformation in our history. Post 209 is converting from a traditional VFW bar-and-gaming post into a Veteran Gym and Community Center. It's a shift from a place Veterans visit to a place Veterans build their lives around. Fitness, resilience, purpose, family, and each other, all under one roof, open to every Veteran.

Missoula County is home to nearly 10,000 Veterans, and too few Veteran-centered spaces exist where connection happens naturally, outside a bar or a clinical setting. Our membership chose to build something healthier in its place. Not a bar stool, but a model of Veteran community grounded in health, purpose, and family.

What we're building:

  • Fitness programming: CrossFit, functional training, longevity-focused movement, all-abilities classes

  • Wellness programming: trauma-informed yoga, qigong, mindfulness, and meditation

  • Veteran-led outdoor adventures: backcountry hiking, camping, and rafting

  • A Veteran resource hub: benefits navigation, claims support, peer support and suicide prevention outreach, emergency financial assistance, and referrals for housing, legal, education, and employment

Our Honor Guard and Charitable Contributions Committee are the backbone of Ole Beck. The Honor Guard provides a Firing Party for ceremonies across western Montana cemeteries, having conducted over 100 military funeral honors this year alone. The Charitable Contributions Committee directs our giving back into the Missoula community and the Veterans who need it most. Together with over 300 combat Veteran members and a service area of thousands, this is the foundation everything else at Post 209 is built on.
